HER MAJESTY QUEEN SIRIKIT OF THAILAND

In May 2017, two pairs of custom-made high heels with traditional, hand-woven Thai silk were created in collaboration with Vogue Support and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s SUPPORT Foundation. Being an artist with value in art market, Eugene also exclusively exhibited his two paintings at the gala.

The Queen set up The Foundation for the Promotion of Special Handicraft Occupations (SUPPORT) in 1976 in order to encourage women in poverty to learn to weave cotton cloth as a source of supplementary income.

Aiming to help women and bring Thai silk into the international stage, each year Vogue Thailand selects and invites designers to create signature items using Thai silk supplied from the Her Majesty’s foundation.

Eugene Riconneaus is always dedicated to empowering women to be more independent and potent. Those creations from Eugene Riconneaus have been auctioned off at the Vogue Thailand Gala on May 18th. All proceeds have gone to charity to help local women.
